The Ananta House

The Ananta House

Sustainable, customizable, scalable, housing.

Each unit is composed of two long narrow bars.
One is solid, where all the support spaces are and private activities happen such as the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and storage.

Another bar is void and composed of a series of transparent rooms and courtyards. These rooms are more public, like the living and dining room. The unit contains no “windows” instead the void is open from north to south, opening up views that frame and connect to the outdoor landscape, blurring the boarder between the interior and the exterior.

When multiplied, the design not only saves material but also brings people closer together as the opposite spaces in the wall can be shared and occupied.

A variety of different arrangements of spaces within a single unit are possible. This allows people to mix and match different spaces to fit their daily needs and styles. By designing several modules builders save on wood for form work.

Units built next to each other take advantage of sharing the wall of the opposing unit. By doing so the units work together to create a neighborhood which in turn results in condensing the overall footprint of the community.
