The Upward Spiral
Elderly care in mono-functional buildings is economically no longer feasible, because there will be more future cuts in the budget by the government. In addition, the current method of care and nursing homes led to more loneliness among the elderly. The growing problem calls for new concepts, which on the one hand fix the isolation of the elderly, and on the other hand reduces the healthcare costs by creating new hybrids. Architecture is of great significance to this transition to a new standard. A standard that suits this time. Our spiral concept is a mixture of housing typologies, healthcare functions and leisure functions, so elderly can continue to live in the middle of society.
